Full Version: Manky mane

I'm after some tips..........

Eb is prone to a bit of dandruff which is always a lot worse in winter when she has her rug on. I plaited her today for hunting & it looked gross, she has loads of huge chunks of skin coming off all over the place, she almost looks like she's gotr sweet-itch (she hasn't though). I washed her mane last night with hibiscrub too.

Does anyone have any tips or feeding suggestions that might help with skin condition ?

She gets soya oil in her feed at the mo & she's fed Alpha-oil. I can't really put anymore oil in there as she hates it. I can only get away with a tiny drop of soya.

Summer time isn't a prob, it's only a seasonal thing?? Any suggestions emo-dunno.gif

we had a c mare that had a very flaky mane looked like she had swwet itch and her mane was always dandruffy and thigs like that. we washed her mane one a week in teetree shampoo and it gradually got better. you could see the difference in one wash. smile.gif

Hi SSx, with Cilsane Stud on the tea tree shampoo. Tea tree is mildly antibac, whereas Hibiscrub can be quite strong and dries out skin. I use lavender and tea tree shampoo as the lavender is cooling. Also, seaweed in her diet is good for skin, coat and hooves. Think I've waxed lyrical on the merits of seaweed before.lol.

Herb lady outside Llanybydder mart on Thurs. Think £3 kg. Or Hilton Herbs, they're more expensive.
